Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th, 1972. However, she was raised within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner worked as the chemist of Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. The father of her was an engineer in the chemical industry, so she wanted to be like her father. In order to achieve her dream of becoming an actress, she moved to New York. When she was not appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as a waitress. She played a minor role on "Felicity" (where it was that she first met Scott Foley). Garner began her career in Alias which is an action-thriller. Her first major part was in the acclaimed love story 13 Going on 30. The film featured her as a teenage girl trapped in a thirty+ year old's body. Garner chose Gary Winick (director) to make the movie. Together, they looked for new opportunities until Winick's death in the year 2011. The year 2009 was the first time Garner has been named as an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. It includes the promotion of education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early education. Garner has been a member of the board for the non-profit group since 2014. She is a proponent of early learning for children. Garner is an ambassador for the Early Steps to School Success Program. She coaches parents on ways to assist their children in learning.
