Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Her early roles on Broadway include in the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. She received her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director, actors and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently working on the film for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford returns to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production will be produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which brought you Hamilton. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, based off the scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Ashford was the main character in two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role of Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and grew up there.
